Daadima ke Nuske (Grandmother’s Home Remedies)

Storytelling connects us to the world. The magic of stories helps bring families and friends together. Growing up within a rich culture, some of these stories became the source of home remedies for a lot of us. My series is an exploration of a collection of these home remedies as told in stories by friends and family. The series explores some of the common and some of the more crazier hacks to a healthier life. My picture book on the other hand, imbibes the stories told by my grandparents into Rupal’s childhood. She satisfies her curiosity by going on an investigation to solve a peculiar mystery.

I believe that art is a time machine that can take you through the precious moments in the past and simultaneously throw you into the magnificent dreams of the future. As an artist, I’m driven to inspire the feeling of warmth and joy when people look at my work. I like to play with the peculiar quirks that people have and bring them to life in my characters. My process starts with a certain memory or a certain person in my life, a rough sketch and then a burst of colour.
