Children’s Imagination

My series children’s imagination, centers around childhood creativity. Children view the world in a very interesting and unique way. They can have fun for hours using things adults may view as mundane. I draw on memories from my childhood to help create the four images. I wanted the children to be doing more creative activities and focus on them using their imaginations instead of using technology. The series shows four scenarios including a child sitting in a cardboard rocket ship flying through the galaxy, a child pretending they are camping in a blanket fort, a childing finding sunken treasure in a pool, and lastly a child destroying a town made of lego. All these situations are things I did when I was a child to pass the time and have fun so I’m really excited to bring my memories to life in a fun illustrative way. I drew these images digitally using very textured brushes to give them the look that they were drawn with children’s art supplies. I also formatted them so they look like old polaroid photos because it helps add to the feeling that these are fond memories. Being able to look back on my childhood fondly and pick out special memories to me was such a rewarding experience. This series is something very close to me and has helped be remember my childhood in such a special way.
