The Characterization of Four season – Seasons of Eros

Centuries after the publication of the Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, the set of four concertos is a popular inspiration as a creative theme, and I also use it as a muse for my series, Season of Eros.To show the complexity of human relationships regarding love, I use each season to display how intimacy changes in each stage. The feature of my piece is a young girl who goes through significant changes in her romantic life throughout her adolescence. This is the age where individuals enter large changes in their life in many aspects. I use the importance of that period to display how impactful one factor can be to the life of one person. Each of the four images represent the seasons of: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Every season depicts the changes in the young girl’s relationship in each stage of love.

The first card in this is Spring: The Sun. This card represents the first significant change in her romantic life which is First love. This card shows a sense of naivety and starts with a sweet, pleasant feeling, but at the same time a hint of uncertainty is present. The Cherry blossom represents the love and female’s charm of their strength and beauty but it also represents fragility as one’s first love usually does not work out.

The second card Summer: The Lovers, signifies the concept of love is blind, it is a card that many people can relate to in the early stages in a relationship. This card represents passionate love, she can only see all the good things about her partner where she is unable to see all the red flags being raised. Making her look foolish yet so beautiful at the same time. The Sunflowers in this series embodies deep love and sincerity, as well as represent happiness and positivity just like the sun.

The third card Autumn: The devil, represents a transformation in her relationship as this card reflects falling out of love, where the romantic intensity from the Summer card is starting to cool off. The Flowers used in this illustration are Spider Lilies symbolizing departure or farewell and broken red strings to represent a wilting relationship.

The final card in this series is Winter: The Moon, representing the sorrow and misery of losing the relationship. This card is a complete contrast to Spring, comparison to the joyous disposition of the first card, winter holds a mourning expression. This card represents a transformation of oneself to become stronger. The flowers used in this card are Anemones symbolizing Death and bad luck but it also represents passing of time and sincerity.
