Four Fantasy Races

My series represents the most popular races in medieval fantasy worlds in gaming. These are the humans, elves, orcs, and undead. Mostly represented in role playing games, these races are often the first choice the player makes, which of these races will the individual choose to represent themselves in the world?

Choosing your character’s race is usually a reflection of the player’s interest, playstyle, even personality when playing the game. So I chose to illustrate the four races with their most popular weapon associated with them as a game controller. In medieval fantasy worlds, humans are mostly represented as knights, clad in armor and wielding a sword. For the human, I chose to illustrate them wearing a VR visor as a knight’s helmet while wielding a beat saber controller. Elves in gaming are heavily inspired by Tolkein elves; tall, cunning, intelligent, and clever, mostly represented as Archers. For the elf, I illustrated them wielding a bow that looks like a controller and an NES blaster. Orcs are brutish and powerful, commonly represented as axe wielders. My Orc in the series wields an axe that is also a guitar hero controller. Finally, the undead, mostly represented as reanimated, malevolent beings. The most popular image of the undead is the death itself, wielding a scythe. Just like the orc, the undead in my series wields a scythe that also doubles as a guitar hero controller, as well as playing a handheld console.

I’ve always had a fascination for the Arthurian medieval fantasy world in fiction. I tend to favour role playing games that also take place in that world. I want this series to represent the first and most important choice many players make before stepping into the gaming world.
