The Nature’s Soul Within Us

I was born and raised in Saigon and Hanoi, two of the largest and most populous industrial cities in Vietnam, where modern life is extremely bustling. But there are also many problems. The issue of competition for living space makes finding urban green space a difficult problem.

From my experience, I find that people in many urban cities are more stressed than ever because they have to struggle to survive in crowded cities. After I arrived in Canada, I was impressed by the way local people appreciate and make use of urban green spaces. So, this project was born with the message to reconnect urban people with trees and with the surrounding nature overall.

In my artwork, the image of fireflies has appeared a lot. In Asian cultures, fireflies are often metaphors for the connection of souls. Through this piece, I hope urban people, especially in large urban cities in countries with dense populations and lack of green space, will pay more attention to their own reunion with nature.
