Forgotten consequences

In the year 2020, the Covid-19 virus pandemic swept the world. Hundreds of millions of people were infected and there were millions of deaths. This era of our lives makes us realize how fragile human lives are. Medical professionals are now in their third year of fighting the virus. During that time people have become accustomed to wearing medical masks, and gloves, washing their hands, using antiseptic, and doing tests every time they feel sick.

All precautions help to reduce the number of infections and the virus is slowly but surely receding. With this panic and isolation, people have become oblivious to nature. With the spread of the virus, the number of microplastics has increased hundreds of thousands of times. Every day, those who wear medical disposable masks change them two to six times a day. In addition, some people wear latex gloves, which are not durable and tear quickly.

The level of microplastics in the world has risen to critical proportions and must be dealt with on an equal footing with the virus. Action without cohesion will not prevent the worldwide problem. We need to shine a spotlight on the pollution caused by microplastic within the PPE. My series of works are intended to open the eyes of those who are not aware of how much garbage they produce daily. It seems that a couple of masks a day is weightless trash and there will be no consequences, but when billions of people think the same, it is a threat.

All four works are created digitally. Nowadays, our world has become more digital, and I think during the pandemic we all communicate and share virtually through the internet. To emphasize the connection between social media and the pandemic, I decided to do my Series digitally using Procreate.
