Healthcare Hall of Horrors​

I am a young woman dealing with chronic pain in the Canadian healthcare system. Chronic pain is often overlooked and/or attributed to an individual’s weight without further investigation due to entrenched fatphobia within the healthcare system. Through these illustrations, I aim to share my experience of dealing with the system over the past four years by juxtaposing traditional healthcare themes with amusement park or circus objects. My goal is to create a conversation about the boundaries created for certain individuals when it comes to accessing healthcare and how these boundaries can affect their overall health. Does a healthcare system really work if a percentage of the population is left behind?
