In a world so focused on finding “the one” or “your soulmate”, people tend to overlook the many other human connections people need. I made these pieces to express myself and my aromaticism and asexuality. My four pieces show different forms of love, such as familiar love, platonic love, self love, and guest love. These are all forms of love that someone who is a-spec can experience. Aromaticism/asexuality is defined as a lack of romanctic/sexual attraction. I am a-spec, or on the aromantic/asexuality spectrum. Many people who are allosexual, or who do experience romantic/sexual attraction, think a-spec people are incapable of love. That is simply not true. A-spec people are capable of love just like everyone else. Our modern society has placed so much emphasis on romantic/sexual love that people forget about all of the other ways humans connect with each other.

Whether it is cooking with your family, playing cards with your friends, enjoying some time to yourself, or helping a classmate, these are the connections that hold people up and keep them from crumbling.

Le Temps n’attend monstre

“Le temps n’attend monstre” (Time waits for no monster) is a story about the journey of Madeline as she grows up in her Grandma Giselle’s Monster Pet Store. Madeline and her Grandma are very close and grow together through Madeline’s developmental stages. They also grow alongside the different monster pets in their store, as well as Madeline’s own pet. Once Madeline becomes an adult, she discovers a love of cooking and plans to rework her Grandma’s pet store to include a small monster cafe. These story elements are developed and integrated between character and environment explorations to my final story scenes. The job briefs for this pitch were open-ended and we were allowed to add our own elements, so I chose a more fantastical and whimsical world to match my creative voice.

These pieces are a small glimpse of the fictional pitch materials that I created for a future client.
