Lamplighter

The works here center around a world wherein the sun has completely burnt out and the world is left in cold, dark ruin. The only way humanity has been able to survive is by way of the creation of giant, industrial “lamps” that spark and hold large fires in a high enough quantity to keep the world warm and bright. These massive lamps do go out and require maintenance, as a result an occupation has come back into relevancy for the first time since the Victorian era- lamplighters.
These pieces and their story illustrate the theme of the struggle we face to keep our fires alive despite how dark the world can be. We must keep our own hearts alive and reignite them when the cold darkness of the world extends inwards and snuffs out our flames. We are the lamplighters of our own inner fires.
