Artist Statement
New Year, New Journey
Through my artwork, I hope to share the essence of Nowruz with a wider audience and
remind viewers that life is full of beautiful and unexpected moments, even when things don’t go as planned. The unexpected incidents in my artwork serve as a reminder that life does not always go the way we want it to, but it is those unpredictable moments that make life interesting and worthwhile.
As an artist, I have always been fascinated by the rich and diverse cultural customs and traditions that exist throughout the world. As a Persian, Nowruz, our New Year celebration, has always captivated my attention with its distinct and exquisite customs. My recent series of four digital images showcases my interpretation of unexpected incidents that can occur during Nowruz celebrations.
Each image in the series depicts a specific custom associated with Nowruz, including the festival of the fire dance, spring cleaning, traditional meals, and earth day. My aim with this series was to highlight the joyous and sometimes unpredictable moments that are an integral part of the Nowruz celebration.
