“Buy My Bull”

Taking inspiration from Japanese manga illustrators, Ukiyo-e portraits of women, and early 1900s French advertisement posters. I wanted to use what I learned in my digital illustration and life drawing classes to create this piece. The 4 panels show a woman in expressing posing in front of a bull. The inspiration for the composition was taken directly from early 1900s French advertisement posters. A lot of these ads feature a woman in a dress in expressive posing standing next to the product that is trying to be advertised. I enjoyed these vibrant and illustrative ads, especially since the focal point of these pieces was always the model and not the product. I wanted to use this inspiration to create something that attempts to blur the line between advertisement and art, because I believe they are very similar as they both exist with the intention of eliciting an emotional response from the viewer.
