Artist Statement

Beyond spaces, within moments.

I have two homes on the opposite sides of the globe.

Korea, it is where my roots are. It is where my ancestors have always been. It is where my people live their lives.
It is where I feel safe.

Canada, it is where I am now. It is where my new adventure takes place. It is where I feel loneliness but also freedom. It is where I can be the conductor of my own life.

It is evident that time flows continuously. As I spend my weeks, my days, and my little moments in Canada, my family and friends’ time also pass in Korea.
Their weeks, their days, their little moments also go by, and there is no me.

But sometimes, I quietly close my eyes at night, and I imagine the brightness and busyness of my home on the other side of the world. And I think to myself, each one of us is living our lives to the fullest in each place, and we all exist at this time. And someday, there will be times when my space meets theirs.

I have two homes on the opposite sides of the globe, but it’s okay because I know we are leading our lives simultaneously. We all exist in these moments. Beyond spaces, time bonds us together.
